Domestic meat processing enterprises need to export their products. This opinion was expressed by the founder of Agro-Invest LLC and the head of the meat export group of the Meat Industry Association, Ihor Lyakhovskyi.

According to the expert, the main market for the sale of pork in Ukraine is now the armed forces, retail chains and large processing enterprises, while previously a significant part of the meat was distributed to medium and small processors.

"The meat business in Ukraine is on the verge of survival. The market has significantly narrowed due to the decrease in the population (according to various data, 7-10 million Ukrainians have left the country), the incomes of buyers of meat and meat products in Ukraine have decreased.

In such conditions, the salvation for the industry, which despite the war is developing, should be the expansion of sales markets through exports. For example, the Philippines, Vietnam, the People's Republic of China, South Korea, Japan, Great Britain, as well as the countries of the European Union are sales markets for the domestic meat industry," Ihor Lyakhovsky noted.

At the same time, Ihor Lyakhovsky emphasizes that export is not as difficult and complicated as it seems to producers who have not yet been involved in it. Most enterprises in the meat industry of Ukraine work at the level of international quality control and safety standards, and therefore will not have problems with their products on foreign markets.

"I am sure that our enterprises will successfully cope with this, provided that the competent state authorities of our country open free access to the markets of other countries," Ihor Lyakhovskyi concluded.
